Kirkwood was founded in 1913 and was named after a pioneer of irrigation in South Africa, J.S.Kirkwood. It is a quaint village situated in the Sundays River Valley in the heart of the Greater Addo Route. From being a dusty desert area the valley is now a lush and very beautiful place to explore.
